In 1998 Heinz Habe organized the first Steirerball in New York. The purpose of the event is to strengthen the business dealings between the USA and Austria specially Styria.

That´s why Heinz Habe works together with VA Tech Elin , the event´s main sponsor. The American customers of VA Tech ETG are invited to the Steirerball. Before the event there´s always a meeting in which the newest achievements in the transformer construction are being discussed.

The Raiffeisen Finance LLC in New York, the American sponsor of the Steirerball, always invites its customers from all over the world. That´s why the event has become one of the social and economic highlights of the year.

The Styrian cook Walter Plendner, who works at the Marriott, once again cooks for the guests.Styrian folk music is presented by various bands and different “Schuhplattler” groups.
Styrian specialities like Kernöl (pumpkin seeds oil), Apfeltrüffel (confectionery) from Schwindhackl and Styrian wine from Wineyard Wohlmuth-Kitzeck are served at the event.
